Biography

Rosa Cascio is born and baptized 3 October 1879. According to her baptismal record, she is the daughter of Aloysio Cascio and Didaca di Miceli. Aloysio is the Latin form of Luigi. Didaca is the Latin form of Diega, but her mother is actually named Dorotea. Although she is the third known daughter, Rosa is named after her maternal grandmother, Rosa Frogali. Her next oldest sister is named after their paternal grandmother, and their oldest sister is named Salvatrice, possibly because her life is in danger when she is baptized.

Her godparents are her uncle Christophorus Cascio and Maria Carmela Mannina, who are not married.
