Biography

Biagio Cascio is born 23 July 1866 in his parents' home in Roccamena. Nicolina Bonnano, age 36, the midwife of Roccamena, reports his birth. His mother is Giuseppa Ciravolo, age 28 (b. 1838), without a profession, resident of Roccamena. His father is Stefano Cascio, her husband, age 29 (b. 1837), contadino (peasant).

Giuseppa dies on 14 December 1879. The marriage allegati of Biagio and his brother, Vito, document their mothers' age with ten years' difference: both their birth records and their mother's death record agreeing, in each case, on a birth year of 1828 or 1838.

A note in the allegati of Biagio Cascio and Caterina Giambrone gives the date of publication of their marriage as 31 May 1890, signed by the official of the civil state, L. Cascio. The date of the celebration of their marriage in Roccamena is 28 July 1890.
