Biography
He was a novelist, notable for his work The Horse's Mouth, amongst others.
Arthur Joyce Lunel Cary was born on 7 December 1888 in a hospital in Londonderry, Ireland, the son of Charlotte Joyce and Arthur Pitt Cary.
By the time of the 1891England Census, the family are living in Hackney, London, England.[1]
In the 1911 England Census he is living in Chiswick, Middlesex, England.[2]
He married Gertrude Margaret Ogilvie in 1916 in Hendon, Middlesex, England.[3]
Their children were:
- Arthur Lucius Michael Cary (1917–1976).[4]
- Peter Joyce Cary b.1919. [5]
- Tristam Ogilvie Cary (1925–2008).[6]
- George Anthony Cary b.1927, in Bodmin.[7]
Joyce died on 29 March 1957 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.[8]
