Biography

Jane Carter was born in Barnstaple, Devon, England in 1825.[1]

Jane married Henry Fry in Barnstaple, Devon on 10 Mar 1851.[2] Their marriage was registered at Barnstaple in the first quarter.[3] They lived in Camberwell, Surrey, where Henry was occupied as a linen draper.[1]

Jane and Henry emigrated to Upper Canada (later Ontario), where they had two children. They temporarily returned to England and had two more children.[4] In 1861 they were living in St. Olave, Devonshire, where Henry was occupied as a grocer.[5]

They left England again in 1865[4], emigrating to British Columbia, Canada, where they lived in the Cowichan district[6].

She passed away in Quamichan, British Columbia on 22 May 1889.[7][8] Funeral services took place at the family residence in Quamichan on 25 May 1889.[9]

Jane died intestate. Probate of her estate occurred shortly after her death.[10]

Burial took place St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery in Duncan, British Columbia on 25 May 1889.[9][11]
