James Carter is an Indigenous Australian.

James was a Gunditjmara man, probably born about 1889 in Branxholme, Victoria. He was the son of Christopher Carter and Margery Etchison. His birth was not registered.

In 1917 James married Edith Pyers in Victoria.^[1]

James died in 1968 in Portland, Victoria.^[2][3]
