Biography

William L. Carter was born 14 September 1837 in Roane County, Tennessee. ^[1] He was a son of Joseph Carter and Lockey Luttrell. ^[2] He married Sarah "Sally" B. Durham 24 February 1857 in Polk County, Missouri. ^{[1] [3]} William was ambushed by rebels in Civil War in Cedar County, Missouri on 19 April 1863 in Cedar County, Missouri. He was interred in Pickel Cemetery, Polk County, Missouri. ^[1]
