David Allison Carruthers was born in 1920, in Cumberland, England, the eldest child of John William Carruthers and Agnes Jane Allison, with the event being registered in the 1st Quarter at Cockermouth.[1] A couple of years later he had a baby sister named Edna.
David Carruthers migrated from Cumberland, England to New South Wales, Australia.
In 1924 his parents packed up the family and emigrated to Australia, travelling aboard the "Berrima" out of London, and settling in New South Wales.[2] Over the next several years, he and Edna were joined by two more sisters, and four more brothers, making eight children in all.
He married Edith Ellen Matthews in 1940, in Paddington, New South Wales.[3]
David Allison Carruthers passed away on the 10th June 1990, in New South Wales, Australia, aged 70 years.[4]
