Biography

Hilaire Carriere was born about 1825 in Opelousas, St. Landry, Louisiana, United States, a son of Ursin Carriere (1790 - 1831) and Carmelite Lacase (1796 - <1854).

His siblings were:

  1. Carmelite (Carriere) Sonnier (1812 - 1884)
  2. Ursin Carriere (1815 - <1865)
  3. Apolline Carriere (1817 - )
  4. Adelaide Carriere (1823 - )
  5. Constant Carriere (1828 - )
  6. Ozeme Carriere (1831 - 1865)

Hilaire (about 20) married Josephine Sonnier (18) (1827 - >1870) on 24 July 1845 at the St. Landry Parish Court house in Opelousas, Louisiana.[1][2]

Their known children were:

  1. Josephine Carriere (1849)[3]
  2. Amelia (Carriere) Janis (1855 - )[4]
  3. Ozemiee Carriere (1857)[5]

In 1850, he and his family were living in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[6]

He died c.1860, executed by vigilantes.[7]
