Paolo Carrabba, the son of Bernardo Carrabba and Giacinta Spinella, is born on 10 November 1855 in his parents' home on via San Leonardo in Corleone, Sicily.[1] Records of his death give Paolo's birthdate as 11 November.[2]
Paolo marries Orsola Madonia, daughter of Salvatore Madonia and Giuseppa Badami, on 8 June 1884.[3]
Paolo, also called Paul, and Orsola, spelled "Ursula" in American records, have three known children: Giacinta (1885), Jenny (1889), and Josephine (1890).
Giacinta is born in Corleone on 24 September 1885 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Nicolo’ d’Anna and Maria Colletti, who are both unmarried.[4]
Paolo, 31 (b. 1855), a farmer, his wife Orsola Madonia, 30 (b. 1856), and daughter Giacinta, age one (b. 1885), appear on the manifest of the Letimbro, arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1886 with a number of other passengers from Corleone.[5]
Jennie is born 24 May 1889 in Bryan, Texas, according to the record of her death.[6] Her Find A Grave memorial page gives her birthplace as New Orleans.[7]
Josephine is born 18 November 1890 in Plattman, LA, according to her death record, which names her mother "Eula."[8] There is no place by this name. Her Find A Grave memorial page gives Josephine's birthplace as Plattenville, Assumption Parish, LA.[9]
Josephine and Jennie marry brothers: Josephine to Frank Patranella, and Jennie to Charlie. The Patranella brothers (spelled "Petranella" in records in Corleone), born in Bryan, Texas, are from the same town as the Carrabba family.
Ursula dies 17 July 1926, reportedly at age 71 (actually, 69) in Bryan, TX. She is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.[10] Her husband, daughters, and sons in law are also buried here, as are their parents.
