I was born Jan 6, 1946 in Kew Gardens, Queens, NY the second of 6 children. I enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Merrick, Long Island. I attained the rank of Eagle Scout, worked at various jobs, spent summers at the beach, went winter camping and even worked on a dairy farm. In 1966 I joined the army and went to Europe returning in 1969.In 1971 I married a wonderful woman moved to New Jersey and had 2 children who gave me 3 grandchildren. I retired in 2005 and eventually moved to North Carolina.
My interest in genealogy came from my father who researched his family including Ingersoll, Doane, Allen, and Carr families back to before the revolution. He became a member of the Son's of the Revolution. He did not have the advantage to the internet and all of its resources but what he found allowed me to go further back. I became a member of The Society of Mayflower Descendants in 2007 tracing my way to William Brewster. In 2015 I had the good fortune to add a second link to Stephen Hopkins.

Thanks for the information that you have gathered and posted regarding Gideon and Sarah Nickerson and other family members. I am descended from Joshua and Esther (Rider/Ryder) Nickerson via my maternal McGray line. Researching for primary, secondary and tertiary documentation regarding Albert Swim Wellington McGray and Sarah Elizabeth Nickerson and for the Fisher & Dorcas Worthen/ Worthing family regarding Maria / Marie Fisher who married James Albert McGray, Albert Swim Wellington McGray's son.
I have several family 'mysteries' that I'm working on..... being fairly new to genealogy research it's certainly challenging at times, especially some sites many change/edit information that may actually remove accurate data in place for inaccurate data!! I'm working towards verifying every family connection personally and building my entire family tree...... fun and educational journey ahead!! :)
I am curious though, the official certificates attached lack information regarding the parents of bride/groom, ages etc, What resources did they use for their report/certificate preparation? Did they not find the information or did they simply feel that part of the data was not relevant? Did you require these official certificates for membership to any particular group or organization?? (ie: Mayflower Society application, etc) ?? Are there fees associated with these certificates you obtained from USA vital records and are the fees reasonable? *I'm just getting started and want to be prepared.
NOTE: I'm on Ancestry , GEDMatch, here, Geneanet and Familysearch ....(so far) ;) Thanks again!! Regards, Rhonda Morton, (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada)
Have input over the past five days to suggest somewhat a good correlation with others and linking to my Grandmothers loyalist roots begun with Stephen Hopkins. I found your Nickerson line which so far parallels mine. And.....come to find out we’re compatriots too. Born in 1943 originally from Brooklyn then elmhurst Queens. At present checking out citations and adding more information to all my entries...what fun. I’m living in beautiful NH now the land of skiing, lakes and trout for sure....there is a Mayflower group assisting me to gather a professional application amore a gift to the family than anything else.... Thank you for all your hard work...hope we can communicate at some point....Gail (Seel) Bloom
