Biography

1776 Project
Private John Carpenter served with Suffolk County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

John was born 29 March 1752, in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts. [1][2]

John married Elizabeth (Brown) Carpenter (abt.1750-) on 24 December 1774 in Attleboro, Massachusetts.[3]

John enlisted as a private in Capt. Seth Sumner's company in Col. Gill's regiment. Served at Castle Island, March 1, 1778 one month and eight days. Served again as a private in Capt Ralph Thompson's company at Castle Island, Oct 1, 1779 and served 2 months and 2 days. Served a 3rd time in Suffolk County Regiment as private in Capt Thompson's company in Col Webb's regiment, Aug 26, 1781 and served 3 months and 23 days as reinforcement to the Continental Army. Residence, Greenwich, Washington County, NY. A farmer.[4][5][6]
