Samantha Carlin, born on August 12, 1867, in Monette, Barry County, Missouri, was the daughter of William Marshall Carlin and Nancy (Haddock) Carlin. Her early years were spent in the rural setting of Capps Creek Township, Barry County, Missouri, where she resided with her family.
