Jan Ryneveld Carew was a Guyana-born novelist, playwright, poet and educator.^[1]

• Born in Guyana in 1920

• Studied at several Universities in USA and Europe

• Taught African American Studies at Northwestern University in Chicago from 1973 - 1987

• Married 3 times - had 3 children - one child by each wife.

• He was a Prolific writer of poetry, fiction and non fiction Books. He also wrote plays for TV and Stage.

• Died in Louisville, Kentucky in 2012
