Rosie was born about 1908. She is the daughter of Frank Calep and Pearlie Thompson.
Rosie Mae Jackson was born on September 14, 1909 in Bienville Parish, LA to Pearlie and Frank Calep. She was baptized at an early age in the Mount Zillah Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Rev. Clem White. She met and married Roosevelt Jackson on July 30, 1927 and to this union two sons were born. In 1954, the family moved to San Diego, CA and they united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She remained a faithful and loyal member until she was hindered by illness. She served as Vice President of the Deaconess Board for a number of years, she also served as President of the Mission in Louisiana and was loved by all who worked with her. God called her home Friday, March 7, 1975 at 8:50 PM.
Survivors include a loving and devoted husband, Roosevelt Jackson; a loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Jesse Phillips of Bienville, LA; two wonderful sons, Jesse James and Frank Jackson; three sisters, Essie Mae Calep, Allie B. Phillips and Pernell Phillips; a brother, Ozie Calep; five grandchildren, there great grandchildren, nine nieces, ten nephews, three aunts, one uncle and a host of friends to mourn her passing.
She is gone but shall never be forgotten. Sleep on, we loved her but God loved her best.
