"So excited to be viewing the letters in the Rare Collections at the Wellcome Library from the late 1800s that Lord Joseph Lister wrote to our great grandfather Dr. William Johnson Calder. Dr. Lister the" father of antiseptic surgery" and surgeon to Queen Victoria was Calder's professor, mentor and dear friend. The letters offer a glimpse into Calder's life from the University of Edinburgh, to Jamaica, to South Africa. Archibald Lister Calder was named after Dr. Lister."[7]
