Biography

Maurice was born about 1840, son of Thomas Caissie and Geneviève Léger.

He was baptised at St-Thomas in Memramcook on Dec 03, 1840.^[1]

‘Morris Casey’ appears, age (21), with his parents and siblings at Dorchester Parish (Westmorland County) on the 1861 Census of New Brunswick.^[2]

Maurice married Marguerite Hayes 10 Feb 1866 in Memramcook. Groom's parents listed as Thomas Cassey and Geneviève Léger. Bride's parents listed as Patrick Haise and Marie Savage, residents of Cap Tourmentin.^[3]

‘Marrice Casey’ (31) appears on the 1871 Census of Canada at Dorchester, New Brunswick with wife Margaret (25), daughter Mary (4), and son Thomas (3). Next door to them are Maurice’s parents Thomas (65) and ‘Jane’ [‘Geneviève’] (63), as well as Maurice’s three remaining siblings still living at home, Martin (28), Mathilda (24), and Michael (22).^[4]

‘Morris Casey’ (40) appears in Sackville on the 1881 Census of Canada with wife Margaret (38) and children Mary (14), sons Walter (10), Arthur (8) and Willie (6), as well as daughter Nellie (4).^[5]

‘Maurice Casey’ passed away Dec 20, 1928 in Albert County, New Brunswick (can’t make out place name). His birthday is given as Jan 15, 1838, age at death, ‘90 years, 10 months, 5 days’.^[6]
