ATHOL - Charlene M. (Cadoret) Bacon, 69, of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, a hospital nurse for more than 35 years, died yesterday in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband of 33 years, Leon A. Bacon, died in 1983. She leaves two sons, two daughters, a brother, six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Rutland, Vt., daughter of Joseph and Emma (Atkins) Cadoret, and later lived in Gardner. She lived 48 years in Athol. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1946 and Heywood Hospital School of Nursing, Gardner, in 1949.

Mrs. Bacon was a registered nurse at Athol Memorial Hospital for more than 35 years before she retired. She was previously a nurse at Heywood Hospital in Gardner. Mrs. Bacon was a 48-year member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a volunteer at its thrift shop. She was a member of Edward H. Phillips Post 102, American Legion Auxiliary.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 Park Ave. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, Memorial Fund, 15 Park Ave., Athol, MA 01331. Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., is directing arrangements.^[1]
