Michael Bös has German Roots.
Volga German
Michael Bös was a Volga German.

Michael Bös was born in 1717, probably in Ockstadt, Wetteraukreis, Hessen, Germany. (Ockstadt is where he was twice married and where at least 7 of his 8 children were baptized.) There have been several variations of Michael’s surname, including: Boos, Boose, Boes, and Boese. When he was 21, he married Maria Catharina Henckel, daughter of Johannes Henckel, on 29 Oct 1738 in Ockstadt. Catharina died on May 11, 1749 in Ockstadt.

Michael Bös and Maria Catharina Henckel had the following children:

  1. Anna Maria Bös was born probably in Aug 1742 in Ockstadt. (She was baptized on August 28.) She died in Aug 1746 in Ockstadt.
  2. Heinrich Bös was born in 1743 in Ockstadt. (listed separate in 1766, single, teacher)
  3. Ferdinand Bös was born probably in May 1745 in Ockstadt. (He was baptized on May 10.) He died in Apr 1753 in Ockstadt.

When he was 32, he married Maria Dorothea Pfeil on 30 Sep 1749 in Ockstadt. They lived in Ockstadt at least until 1758. Sometime before 1765, the family moved to Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany. (The 1767 census of Obermonjou, Russia shows Michael came from Wiesbaden, Germany. The List of Colonists to Russia in 1766 shows that Michael Boose is from Mainz, an area that includes Wiesbaden.) The record shows that Michael was a blacksmith in Wiesbaden.

When he was 49 years old, Michael moved his family from Wiesbaden to Russia. They departed from Lübeck, Germany, and arrived at the port of Oranienbaum in Russia on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. The family wintered in Oranienbaum until the following spring, when they were transported to the colony of Obermunjou (Kriwowskoje), Samara, Russia, arriving on June 7, 1767, nearly a year after arriving in Russia. Michael and his family was counted in the census in 1767 in Obermunjou. The record shows he was 50 years old and lived with his wife Dorothea, age 40, and 5 children.[1] He was a first settlers in the colony of Ober-Monjou with his wife Dorothea, and six children. [2][3]

Michael Bös and Maria Dorothea Pfeil had the following children:

  1. Anna Catharina Bös was born probably in Aug 1751 in Ockstadt. She was baptized in August 26. She married Peter Brehm in 1767.

Bös-1885 and Boes-150 appear to represent the same person because: I recently approved your suggested merge of Andreas Boes. We also need to merge his parents - Michael Boes and Dorothea Pfeil. Thanks you for finding these duplicates. I believe the birth and baptismal records on my record are accurate and we should use those dates and locations.
