Biography

Elsie Marie was born in Mar 1894 (1900 census) or Mar 1895 (gravestone). She was the daughter of Edgar Woodville Butts and Sallie Adeline McKinney. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

She married on 16 Sep 1919 at Loudon County, Tennessee to Horace Perkey. ^[4] They resided at Knoxville and do not appear to have had any surviving children. ^{[5] [6] [7]}

Elsie's first cousin Allene Minnetta Goodwin resided with them in 1930.

There is disagreement among descendants as to whether Elsie's mother Sallie resided with them in 1940, or simply came for an extended visit. Some contend she kept her own house in Lenoir City until she died.

Horace died in 1949 and Elsie resided with her widowed mother in 1950. ^[8] Elsie married second on 02 Apr 1952 at Maryville, Tennessee to widower Hugh Pearson ^[9] and at some point thereafter they removed to Dunellon, Florida. ^[10]

Elsie passed away in 1968 ^[11] and was buried at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. ^[3]

Elsie's transcribed death record (no image) shows a 31 Dec 1968 date of death, but her gravestone shows 03 Jan 1969, which may have been date of burial.
