Thomas Pierce Butler, 10th Bt. was born on 16th December 1836, the son of Sir Richard Pierce Butler, 9th Bt. and Matilda Cookson.[1]
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Glos. England.
He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Butler, of Cloughgrenan, co. Carlow on the 22nd of November 1862.
He held the office of High Sheriff of County Carlow in 1866.
He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of County Carlow.
He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.
He married Hester Elizabeth Bellingham, daughter of Sir Alan Edward Bellingham, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Clarke, on 8th September 1864 at Castle Bellingham, Kilsaran, county Louth.[2] Known children of theirs are:
In the 1901 census he was shown as living at Ballintemple with three unmarried daughters:[10]

Thomas died aged 72 on the 8th March 1909 at Ballintemple House, his daughter Maude was present.[11] Probate was granted to Sir Richard Pierce Butler.[12]
