Richard Butler born in 1699, second son of James and Frances (Abney) Butler. [1]
Richard married in 1728 to Henrietta Percy, daughter of Henry Percy.

Sir Richard Butler died in 1771, at Kilkenny Castle, in County Kilkenny. His great grand daughter, Henrietta Maria Hickey, later recalled that he "died on a visit at Kilkenny Castle, to visit his cousin, Lord Ormonde, having been accidentally suffocated by the sulphur of Kilkenny coal in his bedroom."
