Private Herbert Butler was Killed in Action during World War I.

Herbert Lewis Butler, ^[1] son of James Butler and Lucy Wall, ^{[2] [3]} was born in about August 1882 in Stone (near Dartford), Kent. ^{[1] [2] [4]} He married Elizabeth Ellen Watts in about February 1910, their marriage was registered in Rochford, Essex. ^[5] He was killed in action on 16 June 1917 in Arras, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. ^{[6] [7] [8]} He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. ^{[9] [10]}
