Carroll Butler is a part of US Black heritage.

Carroll Napier Butler was born on 4 September 1887 in Pennsylvania, to parents Virginia Frances "Jennie" Napier and John Butler.

In the 1900 census, he was 13 years old and living in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, with his parents, siblings, and grandmother.^[1]

On 5 June 1917, Carroll registered for the World War I draft. He was 30 years old and living in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and working as a waiter at Valley Catering Company. He was described as tall, medium build, brown eyes, black hair.^[2]

In the 1920 census, he was 35 years old and living in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in the household of his brother James Butler. He was working as a caterer at a confectionary shop.^[3]

In the 1940 census, Carroll was 54 years old and living in Manhattan, New York City, working as a bartender at a cafe. His household included his younger brother Otis Butler, Otis's wife Irma, their children Carmen and Otis Jr, and a 15-year-old lodger named Norris Decreney.^[4]

In the 1950 census, Carroll was listed as 60 years old and living in Manhattan in the household of his brother Otis:^[5]

Carroll Napier Butler passed away on 27 September 1961 in Richmond, Virginia, and was buried at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Hanover County, Virginia.^[6][7]
