Edward was born in 1579. He was christened on the 24th of August 1579 in Toddington, Bedfordshire, England. Edward was the son of Edward Burwell (Sr) and Jane Wingate. [1][2][3]
Edward Burwell married Dorothy Bedell, the daughter of William Bedell of Catworth, Huntington, England.[4]
Edward wrote his will 18 October 1626, he gave his wife the estate, unless she remarries. He assigned his two daughters as servants to his two sisters. Eldest daughter (age 8) went to his sister "Sheafe", and Elizabeth (age 5) went to his sister "Wingate."[5] He asked "Lord Bruce" to be "a kind lord" to his wife and children.
Dorothy married second Roger Wingate, they emigrated to Virginia.[5]
Edward Burwell was a member (investor) in the Second Virginia Charter of 1609. Some sources do not include his name, but he is found in The history of the first discovery and settlement of Virginia, by William Stith and in Adventures of Purse and Person, Virginia, 1607-1625.[6][7][8]

In the .pdf, the last name under Deaths 1626 Edward Buwell ...is there an inappropriate 'r' placed in this last name. Also, there is mention of his sister Sheafe and a sister Wingate who take custody of two of his daughters, and so strange four servants are buried in the same year!
