Biography

John was born in 1847.[1] He was baptised on 30th October 1848 in Shoreditch, Middlesex, England as the son of John Burman and Lydia Plaistow.[2]

In 1851 and 1871 he lived with his parents in Hackney, Middlesex, England as an ivory carver.[3][4]

In 1874 he married Mehetabel Ball.[5]

In 1876 he moved to Sutton, Surrey, England. He painted landscape and genre pictures in oil and watercolour and occasionally carved in ivory.[6]

In 1881 and 1891 he lived in Sutton, Surrey, England as an artist of marine and landscape in watercolour.[7][8]

In 1895 he painted Sutton Common, Sutton, Surrey, England.[9]

In 1901 and 1911 he lived with his wife in Wallington, Surrey, England as an artist of oil and watercolour.[10][11]

He passed away in 1935.[12][13]

His probate reads, BURMAN John of 57 Thurlestone Road West Norwood Surrey died 12 June 1935. Probate London 14 November to John Albert Edward Burman cabinet maker and Mabel Blanche Henderson widow. Effects £1029 2s 8d.[14]
