Biography

Abby Ann Burgess was born November 14, 1810 in Rhode Island;[1]the daughter of Gideon Burgess.[2]and his wife Phebe (Williams) Burgess.[3]

Marriage, Family Life

Her marriage to Anan E. Aldrich took place at Thompson, Windham, Connecticut.[4]on October 9, 1833.[2]Anan was a machinist.[5]

In 1850, Abby, age 40, was living at Foster, Providence, Rhode Island at the same residence of Olney Burgess, (her brother), aged 45; also her mother Phebe Burgess, age 74. Two of Abby's children are listed: Louisa, age 12 and Nelson, age 8.[6]Ten years later we find the family at Killingly, Windham, Connecticut. Anan is age 52, Abby 49, Louisa 25, and Clarence 7.[7]Again in 1870 and 1880, it is indicated that Abby and Anan continued living at Killingly. Abby is aged 69 in 1880 and Anan, who had suffered a stroke, is aged 73.[5][8]

Death, Burial

Abby A. Aldrich died at Killingly on October 24, 1888.[1][9]

  3. Clarence Alvern Aldrich, b. 9 Aug 1852 at East Killingly, CT, m. Adeline M. Kennedy on 25 Jan 1887,[16]d. 1 Feb 1916 at Providence, Providence, RI.[17][18]
