Rhoda was born in 1789 to Reuben Bunker and Judith Macy Bunker of New Garden Friends Meeting of Guilford County, North Carolina. [1]
On the 2nd of the eleventh month of 1815 Jesse Gardner and Rhoda Bunker were married at New Garden Meeting, Guilford, North Carolina. Those in attendance who signed their names were, to the best of my transcribing ability, as follows: Isaac Gardner, Timothy Macy, Tristram Davis, John Barnard, Paul Macy, Love Davis, Judith Gardner, Lydia Bunker, Priscilla Gardner, Elizabeth Gardener, Jemima All........(unreadable).[2]
On the 4th day of the tenth month, 1821, Jesse Gardner and family were granted a certificate to White Water Monthly Meeting in Indiana. On the same date Rhoda Gardner and three daughters were also granted a certificate of transfer to White Water Monthly Meeting. In time, some others of the Gardner family would travel the same route. [3]
Jesse, Rhoda and children: Diana, Eliza, Susanna and William are next mentioned in records of Chester Monthly Meeting, of Indiana Yearly Meeting of Wayne County, Indiana. [4]
