John Allen Buckler (1923 - 1988)

Biography

John Allen Buckler^[1][2] was born on 7 January 1923,^[3][4][2][5] in Edgar County, Illinois,^[2][5] to Dennie Wood Buckler and Gladys Herrington.^[3][2][5]

In 1930, he was living with his parents and sister at 1505 Madison Street, Charleston, Coles County, Illinois, which his parents were renting for $25 a month. His father was a fireman for a steam railroad. He and his sister were attending school. ^[6]

In 1935 and 1940, he was living with his parents and sister on Boyer Road, in Brocton, Edgar County, Illinois. In 1940, his parents were renting it for $8 a month. His father was a mach. operator, road work, worked 48 hours the week of 24 March, and earned $1,000 in 52 weeks work in 1939. He was attending school, and had finished 2 years of high school; he had earned $50 in 4 weeks work in 1939.^[1]

He served in the US Navy during World War II, as an ARM2 (Aviation Radioman, Petty Officer 2nd Class).^[4]

He married Vera May Ide, on 17 March 1945, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Vera was a clerk, living at 3700 Lancaster Avenue, with her mother (who consented to the marriage). John was a student (Ava. Radio Man a/c USNR), living at 315 4th Street, Charleston, Illinois. They had one child. ^[3] They had one child.^[7][8]

He and Vera were divorced, in 1954.^[7]

In 1950, John and Vera were living with their son on Wayne Scott Trail Camp on W Kirk [?], Champaign County, Illinois. John was not working, looking for work, or unable to work. ^[9]

He married Margaret McGurty.^[5] They had one child.^[2]

He was a veterinarian, and practiced in the Charleston area for 10 years.^[2] He worked for the USDA.^[5]

He died on 20 November 1988, in County Unit #1, Johnson County, Illinois, of an acute myocardial infarction. He had a history of myocardial infarctions. He was living at 310 S. Whithead, Tolono, Champaign, Illinois. On 23 November, he was buried in Saint Patricks Cemetery, Tolono, Champaign County, Illinois. ^[5][2][4]
