Note H117According to the Illinois Civil War Detail Report, William G. Buckler joined the Union Army in Dec. 20, 1863, in Paris, IL, at the age of 52. He was 5' 11" tall, had gray hair, black eyes and a dark complexion. His occupation was farmer. He was mustered in on March 3, 1864 when Company H of the 64th Illinois Infantry was formed. He was a member of Yates Sharpshooters. He served in Georgia campaigns and died of disease in Marietta, Georgia, just before the beginning of Sherman's "March to the Sea".
