DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Keith or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • Keith Brown: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 25 markers, haplogroup R-M269, FTDNA kit #5648

Hi Keith, I cannot thank you enough for all the help with my family on Wikitree. Really appreciate your help. If I can add further please let me know.

I have been working on my tree for 15+ years and have all my info in another forum. Would be glad to share anything that may help.

I am endeavouring to post more sources and to refine my present sources as well as add new persons to wiki tree. I try not to add guess work but only the facts based on reliable sources.

Hi Keith, it's great you're adding profiles to Wikitree. I notice you added William Brown https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brown-130570 and his wife Amy as parents of an existing person. It's important in these cases, where you create a couple from a birth record of their child to still add estimated birth locations, to help other researchers trying to join lineages or find duplicates:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Uncertain_Locations

It also helps if you make a note about where you got the estimated locations and dates on the profiles.

Hello Brad

Not quite sure what you mean I have added the source for birth of their child and given estimates of parents birth and place of birth based upon info supplied in the birth record . All the best Keith

Hello Everyone

I should point out that my Brown research is mainly centred on And in Newfoundland Canada. I have conducted research on Browns who immigrated to the United States and other places but it is limited.

Keith, there is a wonderful and large Brown cemetery in Cumberland County, Va on Rt 60 East ; perhaps this cemetery is East so far as to be in the County of Powhatan, Virginia but I dont think so. Did You know of it?

Keith Thank you for your comments, but I'm sure we have no relatives in common. My father was an only child. His father, well as far as I know, is lost to history. I have everything on Ancestry but can't afford to stay on it. I was hoping there were be a way to transfer to here. Tree name 'Stewart' if you want to look.

Keith, Thanks for all you do. Here are my concerns for Brown line. I'm not good with things outside of what my great Aunt Cora Brown Beach shared. So I'm asking you.

1. I have been looking for Betty Brown's "book" where she elaborated on Thomas Bush Brown's memories. Have you heard of it? Have you heard of Thomas Bush Brown? He followed the Joseph Brown 1768 line was (brother to my Thomas and) son to Thomas Brown 1725 of Rhode Island. 2.on family search lately have been added Chad Brown 1605 and his son James and his son James Jr. of which I don't know if I find it to be true to Joseph and Thomas Brown's line where prior Elcy Fleet was his wife of his children with documentation but adding two wives Ann Green and Catherine Green. The only problem is that they don't divide up the children to whom is Elcy's and who are the other women's children and in error to how long a women can have a child and still have Joseph the youngest and his older brother Thomas who is my line. 3. There is a Canadian Methodist Newsletter/Magazine I've heard of being in a university's library in which my relative was said upon her death to have been captured by Indians and then married to Thomas Brown. This could be Elcy Fleet. They didn't publish the story until after her death for her privacy. Thomas Bush Brown who is cousin to my Varnum Brown said in his memory there was a bunch of his Brown cousins running around like wild Indians at Caldwell Manor (VT/NY and Canada area) Varnum's time period stays in this area north of Lake Champlain and his son moves to Ingersol Canada. Have you heard anything about this publication or story? 4. There is strong blood line with DNA testing between Brown, Sage, Burdick, and Lawrence and I was curious if you knew anything about this. My apologies if this is totally 100 % out of your Brown range of knowledge as it is a common name. My email is [email address removed] my name is Sandy

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects coordinating them is essential. Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations. Citations & links for sources enable verification of data please add from wiki ID go to Research to find sources

The Canadian_History Project would be of interest. Adding the tag Canadian_History will provide updates about the project.

Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals & tasks of the project join if it fits
