Biography

Robert was born in 1936. He passed away in 2014.

Robert Perry Brown served in the military on October 27, 1953, in Crittenden, Kentucky, when he was 17 years old. He lied about his age in order to get in. He would not have been 18 years old until Aug 26, 1954. He served in the Signal Corp who built, managed and maintained communications for the military during most of his enlistment. There was approximately a 2 year period that he worked in transportation. He was quite the rebel early on in his military career and has a couple of court martial demotions to show for it. After marrying Carole, he seemed to find his way and settled down and did very well for the remaining years.

Robert Perry Brown was honorably discharged from the military on March 25, 1967, while serving in Vietnam. He was faced with the difficult decision of re-enlisting and knowing he would remain in Vietnam or giving up his military career to be home with his wife and children. After spending almost a year in Vietnam, it was very apparent that there was high probability that he might not make it home, so he decided to leave.

Military Awards: Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Award (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal (1 oak leaf cluster), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal.
