Walter was born in 1906. He was the son of Walter Brown and Lula Vaughan. He passed away in 1995.

- Walter Jay Brown Jr., 88, died Tuesday, May 23, 1995, in East Pavilion Nursing Home in Franklin, Va. [1][3]
- He was retired from 45 years association with Riverside, American Package and Georgia-Pacific Corporation in wood products manufacturing and sales in Murfreesboro, N.C.
- He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen H. Brown; sons, Walter J. Brown III of Murfreesboro and M. Howard Brown of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; daughters-in-law, Janice H. Brown and Carol S. Brown; and three grandchildren, Wade Harrell Brown, Walter J. Brown IV and Karen Elizabeth Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
- The funeral was conducted Thursday, May 26, 1995 in Cedar Grove Friends Cemetery, Woodland, N.C.[1][3], by George Parker.
