Research
Existing research has for a long time suggested that this Adam Brown was Adam Brown the son of Samuel Brown & Ann baptised in the parish of Abbess Roding, Essex, in 1786.
It is possible, however, that this Adam Brown was actually Adam Brown son of George & Mary Brown baptised in 1785 in the neighbouring parish of White Roding, Essex. The two Adam Brown's are related, both being great-grandsons of John Brown (c1674-1762) of White Roding.
Reasons for believing Adam son of George & Mary baptised 1785 could be the correct Adam:
Adam had a son named George, but he did not have a son named Samuel.
One of the witnesses at the marriage of Adam Brown and Ann Peacock was a Jane Brown. Adam son of George had a sister Jane Brown, while Adam son of Samuel did not.
