Biography

The daughter of George Brown and Cora (Palmer) Brown, Harriet Brown was born in Maple Rapids Township, Michigan^{[citation needed]} in 1892, residing with her family in Bengal Township, Michigan.^[1] By 1910, Harriet and her family lived in Lansing, Michigan.^[2]

Harriet married Benjamin John Schwabland (1879-1922), the son of John C. Schwabland and Melinda Haughenbaugh, marrying in Seattle, Washington on September 25, 1912^[3] and having two children together:

1. John Charles Schwabland (1913-1996)
2. Beatrice Jean Schwabland (1920-2007)

Harriet and her family made their home in Seattle,^[4] where her husband worked as a barber. Benjamin Schwabland passed away at the age of 43, passing away in Skagit County, Washington in 1922, and Harriet returned with her children to Michigan. She remarried in 1927, marrying Edward Charles William Schubel (1881-1948), the son of John Carl Schubel and Alice M. Bowersox, marrying in Williams County, Ohio on May 12, 1927.^[5] They made their home in Blissfield Township, Michigan,^[6] where her husband worked as a veterinarian.^[7] Widowed in 1948, Harriet remained in Blissfield Township.^[8]

Harriet Schubel passed away in Blissfield, Michigan^{[citation needed]} at the age of 68^[9] and is buried at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield.^[10]
