My maiden name is Elder. I'd be curious to see how we are related. I'm also researching to be an FFO and SBO through the Elder line. I'm in need of proof of Catherine Elizabeth Wineland's maiden name. I know she married Robert Elder, but don't have proof. (I'm also a memeber of DAR, but can't use that). We have quite a bit of info that's the same, but I'm getting stuck on Jacob Wineland. It'd be nice if we could compare notes to see. I'd love to hear back to compare notes.
Thank you! Stefanie Elder Brophy
To be a FFO member you must have a direct ancestor proven to be living in Ohio during 1820 or before. That is why I did not use either Wineland or Elder as proof for FFO. John Thomas Elder's (1766-1833) wife had daughter Isabel Elder 23 July 1821 in Bedford, Bedford County, PA, while son Matthew Elder was born 1829 in Ohio. Elizabeth Wineland's maiden name is Wineland and she was born 1789 in Somerset, PA. Her mother Christina Rice born 1780 in PA and married Jacob Wineland, Elizabeth's Father, in may 1797 in PA. Christina remarried in 1816 in Allegany, Maryland to John Whipp after Jacob Wineland died in 1806 in Allegany, MD. John Whip and Elizabeth Wineland had four children all born in PA. I do not have documentation of the marriage of Elizabeth Wineland to Robert Elder.
My maiden name is Elder and I am running into brick walls with this line. Have you or any other Elders taken any Dna tests? Kathy
