I have high standards for myself, and I do not put guesswork on the web. I will post near-certainty based on statistical probability. I am no better at guessing than you are.

I rely almost exclusively upon documentary evidence. I am slow to put living persons on Wikitree as such is of limited use.

Note that if I have a large number of references on someone that you know, the job is not done if you have an interesting story to tell -- like the 300 game in bowling, the hole-in-one, the election to public office, college degrees, and sundry awards, Go ahead! Add them to the story! (Just try to keep it positive).

Hi Paul Welcome to WikiTree,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Hi Paul,

This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the words "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi

Hi Paul,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Paul,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for joining WikiTree! As a mentor I'm here to help. If you have questions or problems with WikiTree, post a comment on my profile page or send a private message.

Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so look for duplicates before adding new profiles. Remember to add dates and locations. And if you have royal ancestors, contact the EuroAristo Project to see about connecting to pre-existing royal lines.

If you feel lost, start with How To Use WikiTree, and check out the Help Index.

Hello. I'm Paul Brower. I have two basic genealogical studies. One is the kitchen sink, and you will see that it contains tens of thousands of people. Some of the connections are pure vanity -- attempts, often successful, to connect to historical figures, cultural creators, etc. Some are a local chronicle.

As for the smaller one -- it is relatives, largely, and it develops more slowly. It has only a little over 5000 people in it, but the sources are better.
