William was born in 1821.[1] He passed away in 1853. He married Samantha Donaldson ca. 1840, since the two appear in the Gwinnett County GA census in that year.
They were members of the Haynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Loganville.[2]
Genealogical proof sets a high bar for non-paternity events, and whether it has been achieved here is up to the reader. Feedback can be added to these research notes.
It's asserted that James Love III is William's father. It could also be one of James' sons John Love born ca. 1795 in South Carolina, James Love born in SC ca. 1796, or Ingram Love born in SC ca.1797.
There are no life records proving descendants of John Love ca. 1795 or James Love ca. 1796. We only know they exist from James Love III's will and their appearance in census records in 1820,
Triangulated DNA is considered sufficient proof of a common ancestor if there is supporting paper documentation. For testers triangulating on the exact segment but with non-paternity events or brick walls, it isn't.
Please communicate with the profile manager if you do not accept the attached research as sufficient evidence that William was James III's father. The connection will be removed until additional evidence is produced. The goal remains to find and BigY test a direct male Love descended from Ingram Love, which should move the needle closer to meeting a proof standard.
Regarding William's proven father using traditional genealogy, there isn't one. Although many researchers assign William to parents Jabez Brooks and Sarah Sally Davis, the connection doesn't fit the records. Jabez's son William was born about 1818 per the 1830 census record. The issue is discussed in the attached Disambiguation report for William Brooks 1821 and William Brooks 1818.
