Charity Broadnax was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1901. She was the daughter of John Broadnax and Clara Washington.

As Chanty Broadway, she was enumerated in her parents' household in 1910.^[1]

Charity Broadnax was age 18 in 1920.^[2]According to the 1920 Census, Charity was born in Georgia.

She married Alphonso Hugh Mazyck.

They were the parents of: Sadie Laurette Mazyck^[3]and Ruth Beatrice Mazyck.^[4]

Daughter Ruth Beatrice Mazyck married George Allen Mackey 3 Aug 1942 in Duval County, Florida.^[5]

Son Alphonso Mazyck was born and died in New York 7 Dec 1924.^[6]

In 1925 Charity Mazyck was living in New York.^[7]

In 1930 Alphonso and Charity and their children were living in The Bronx, New York. Alfonso was age 28, negro, married first at age 19, born in Charleston, S. C. Charity was age 26, negro, born in Canada (?!) and an American citizen, father born in Florida, mother born in Canada; her occupation is listed as auto mechanic, but probably this belongs on her husband's line. Daughter Sadie was age 9, negro, b in New York; daughter Ruth was age 7, negro, born in New York; daughter Emmie was age 4, negro, born in New York; lodger Harry Rossiter was age 24 b in Puerto Rico.^[8]
