Florence Maud Broadhurst was born at Mungy Station, Mount Perry, near Bundaberg, Colony of Queensland, on the 28th of July 1899, fourth child and third daughter of William Broadhurst and Margaret Crawford.^[1]

Florence first became a singer, often winning local esteddfods, later as a member of different performing groups, and was touring in Asia and China, when she decided to open the Broadhurst Academy in Shanghai, however, by 1927, Florence was back in Queensland.

In 1929, Florence was at Kensington, London, England where she met and married Percy Walter Gladstone Kann.^[2] This relationship didn't last long, and by 1939 she was in a liason with Leonard Lloyd-Lewis, which produced a son.

By 1949, the three of them were back in Australia, and it was during this period that Florence produced over 100 landscape paintings. Leonard left her about 1960, for another, younger than their son.

In 1959, she established Australian Wallpapers P/L, working from a Paddington studio, and eventually exporting worldwide.

Florence Maud Broadhurst passed away on the 15th of October 1977, when she was murdered in her Paddington studio. He death still remains a mystery.^[3]
