Hiram Willard Briggs was born at Livermore, Maine, on 8 May 1828, the son of Daniel Briggs and Tabitha (Jones) Briggs. His birth record shows his name as Hiram W. Briggs;[1] his FindAGrave memorial gives his middle name as Willard.[2]
He in his prime was one of the most noted school teachers in the town of Livermore, having taught 76 terms, and for many years was on the School Board. He resided on the original farm until he moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and became Superintendent of the Orphans Home in that city.[3]
Death
Hiram W. Briggs died in 1892.[3] A gravestone for Hiram W. Briggs at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is inscribed with the dates 1828-1892, and his FindAGrave memorial, citing no sources, gives his death date as 18 Sep 1892.[2]
