Wm Briggs was aged 92 when he died in Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia in 1945, for an estimated birth year of 1853. He was a son of John Briggs and Louisa nee Strugnell, not Flarke as shown on the Ancestry Australia, Death Index record that would have been transcribed from his Death Certificate. 1853 was the year in which John and Louisa, his parents, married[1]. However, it is unclear where the marriage took place and where William was born, in Tasmania or Victoria? Does anyone have the answer? William Briggs married Margaret (Maggie) Taylor in 1891, with the marriage registered in Moulamein, New South Wales.
In 1930, they were on the Electoral Rolls at Moulamein, Darling, with William Briggs a Labourer and Maggie Briggs doing Home Duties. Also present on that ER were 2 of their sons Eric William Briggs and James Robert Briggs, both Labourers. By 1936, they were all still on the ER, with the exception of Eric, with the addition of Morris, another son and Carrie both at Moulamein; James Robert and Agnes Amelia were both at River Bank, Moulamein. Maggie died in 1937 leaving William present on the 1943 ER, still at Moulamein, with other family members at the Reserve, River Bank Moulamein, and Moulamein. In 1943, son Harry and his family were on the ER at Moonacullach, Deniliquin, New South Wales. William was no longer present on the next published ER of 1949, having died in 1945.
