Biography

Ethel was born on December 28, 1909 in Oak Valley, Elk County, Kansas and a daughter of Albert Bretches and Cora Ethel Beathe. Ethel Bretches had four husbands: 1st: Richard Morgan who she met in the Norton Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Norton,Kansas. at the age of fifteen. She and Richard eloped and got married. Richard died of tuberculosis about two years later. She then came to Kansas City to be with family and met Kirby Morgan through her sister, who was married to Kirby's brother. William Byran. Richard Morgan was not related to Kirby and Byran Morgan. They were married several years and had two daughters, LaVerne and Kyrthan and then divorced. 3rd husband was Clarence O'nan. They were married twice and divorced twice. They had one daughter, Cathy. The 4th husband was Virgil Marsh and that marriage ended in divorced. She passed away on April 15, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Hospital and buried in the Spanish Fork Cemetery in Spanish Fork, Utah County, Utah.[1]

When Ethel Bernice Bretches was born on 28 December 1909, in Longton, Elk, Kansas, United States, her father, Albert Byrd Bretches, was 33 and her mother, Cora Ethel Beathe, was 31. She married Donald D Morgan on 21 September 1926, in Kay, Oklahoma, United States. She lived in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, United States for about 15 years and Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri, United States in 1940. She died on 15 April 1968, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 58, and was buried in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah, United States.

1910 · The BSA is Made Age 1 Being modeled after the Boy Scout Association in England, The Boy Scouts of America is a program for young teens to learn traits, life and social skills, and many other things to remind the public about the general act of service and kindness to others.

1910 · The Denver and Rio Grande Western Depot Age 1 The Denver and Rio Grande Western Depot, the Rio Grande Depot, is a former train station on the western edge of downtown Salt Lake City. The depot was constructed by the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad to surpass the nearby Salt Lake City Union Pacific Depot and was the main jewel of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. The depot included a barber shop, a telegraph office a gift shop, a restaurant, a men's smoking room and a women's lounge. The depot opened Salt Lake City to a new influx of immigrants, and was also a central point in shipping soldiers off to war in both World War I and World War II. The depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. After the State of Utah purchased the depot in 1977, the building was converted to house the Utah State Historical Society and its research center, the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts, as well as the Rio Gallery.

The theater presents independent films and is a venue for the Sundance Film Festival. 1955 · The Civil Rights Movement Begins Age 46 The civil rights movement was a movement to enforce constitutional and legal rights for African Americans that the other Americans enjoyed. By using nonviolent campaigns, those involved secured new recognition in laws and federal protection of all Americans. Moderators worked with Congress to pass of several pieces of legislation that overturned discriminatory practices.

1964 · The Old Hansen Planetarium Age 55 The Old Hansen Planetarium has served many functions throughout its history. Including, the Salt Lake City Public Library, the Hansen Planetarium and the O.C. Tanner Office. During its time as the Hansen Planetarium, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Planetarium officially closed in 2003 before the opening of the Clark Planetarium.
