Biography

Hannah Breed, b. 18 Dec 1784 @ Stonington, Connecticut, was the second child of Sarah (Chapman) & Jabish Breed [1].

She married 1 Jan 1804 @ Preston, Connecticut, Reuben York [2]. They had 4 children during the timespan through June 1813, all at North Stonington where they resided [3]:

  1. Thomas Jefferson York (1806-1834)
  2. Lois York (1807-1878); married John P. Kinney
  3. Jabish Breed York (1811-1871)
  4. Mary E. York (1813-1870)

This family was counted in the 1850 U.S. census of North Stonington, Connecticut [4]. In 1870, Hannah was counted in household of her son Jabish (termed 'Jabez' in the record) B. York, remaining in North Stonington [5].

Hannah (Breed) York died 1 Jul 1871 at North Stonington, Connecticut. Her grave is in York Cemetery, North Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, USA [6].

Notes

The prolific online family "searching" database (which unfortunately is unrefereed, thus not intrinsically reliable) previously purported that this same Hannah Breed also married, second, in 1824, a Joseph York (1777 - 1878), son of Lucy (Palmer) and James York who was born 9 October 1752. Observing the profile of the equivalently born James York, it appears that he probably died in childhood, thus not likely to have generated a son Joseph who was to become a second spouse of Hannah Breed. His parents [Ruth (Main) & Bell York Sr.] did not match those depicted in the FSearch profile, which was in essence, fictitious. These entire relationships were garbled with those of Hannah W. (Breed) and Joseph York (abt.1797-1878), hence have been corrected.
