Biography

Charles Henry Breed, b. 11 Mar 1876 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the third and final child of Cornelia (Bidwell) Breed (1844-) & Henry Atwood Breed (1842-1914).

He was a graduate of Princeton College 1899, A.M. in 1902. Master at Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Headmaster of Blair Academy, Blairstown, NJ in 1937. He was in educational work about 39 years.

Phi Beta Kappa (AM 1902, EdD, Lafayette 1928). He served in the Department of Justice during the World War (1917-1918). Member Classical League, Classical Association of the Atlantic States, etc. [1]

He married 10 Jun 1903 Frances DeForest Martin [2] (1882 - 1971) (DAR# 64247). They may have honeymooned ex-U.S., as they were passported for joint travel in May of that year [3].

They had 3 children:

  1. Anne Martin Breed (1905-)
  2. Elizabeth Leiper Breed (1907-)
  3. Henry Atwood Breed (1910-)

The caption of his online memorial site states also that Charles Henry Breed was an "Early American pictorialist photographer and educator at Princeton. His work has appeared in major museums throughout the country as well as Canada and Paris." [4]

Charles Henry Breed died 30 Jul 1950, His grave is represented to be in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Mercer County, New Jersey, USA. No grave marker is depicted.
