Marie was born about 1869 in Hanover, Germany to parents Adolph Braun and Anna Starr.[1]
In 1894, she married John Henry Weeks (Weeks-5470) at the Lutheran Church, Melbourne[1] and around 1900, they moved to Sandringham, Victoria, a seaside suburb about 16 kms south-east of Melbourne, where over the years they operated several hospitality businesses involving guest accommodation, tea rooms, wine cafe, billiard saloon and a confectionery store.
Her name appears on various documents and newspaper articles as Marie, Maria or Mary and at some time, she changed her maiden name from Braun to Brown.
Marie died on 14th Feb 1939[2][3] and was buried with her husband and their first daughter Vera at the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery.[4]
