Biography

HONORE BRAUD is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, Plaque 7 Right, La Bergere. Listed with him is his wife, Elisabeth LeBlanc, and children, Pierre, Charles, Olive Elisabeth, Marie Magdeleine, Jeanne, and Rose Marie. [1]

Jeanne Braud was born on 14 May 1776 in Bretagne (now Loire-Atlantique), France, daughter of exiled Acadians Honoré (Breaux) Braud and Elisabeth LeBlanc. She was baptized the same day in the parish of Sainte-Croix, Nantes. [2] Her sponsors were Jean Brousard and Marie Hébert.

In September 1784, her parents and their seven children appeared on a census in Nantes of Acadians who wished to settle in Louisiana. [3]

On 14 May 1785, Jeanne, age 8, her parents, and five siblings left France aboard La Bergère and disembarked in New Orleans on 15 August 1785. [4]

Jeanne died in Sep 1799 in Louisiana, New Spain aged ~23. Her burial took place on 15 September 1799 in New Orleans. [5]
