[2] Hermann Brandt was born in Khodorivka, Volhynia, Ukraine. In April 8, 1907. Parents August Brandt and Henrietta Duesterhoft-Brandt. Hermann married Elsa Grohn on February 21, 1928. Khodorivka, Zhytomyr, Ukraine. Hermann met Elsa Grohn through his brother, Bernard. She lived in the settlement of Wladin, just 4 kilometres west of “Karolinow”. After seeing her only three times, they were married.
In 1921 to 1936. The Brandt Family was prosecuted by the NKVD of the USSR of Russia, in the Zhytomyr, Volyn area of Ukraine. It was in 1936 that Hermann and Elsa were deport to Omsky ITL and Construction 166 Gulag Camp in Siberia, a Labour camp building the rail line Siberia from Omsk section.
After there escape and the war was over they all settled in Munster, Germany. Hermann and Elsa built a household. When relocating to join there sons in Alberta. Must have giving this property to Margarette Brandt to stay behind.
While in Alberta the family grew large and Hermann and Elsa lived a long prosperous life here, untill passing away and being laid to rest here in [1] Edmonton, Alberta. Along side Elsa and Son Artur Brandt and his Wife Annamarie Palmen-Brandt at South Haven Cemetery. Son Alex and wife Sybil Storbeck are in Sherwood Park Glenwood Cemetery, and Waldemar and Olga Baumann are in the Thorsby Area, Morrowdale cemetery. Surviving is their youngest son Erwin and Elizabeth Brandt of Victoria, B.C, Canada.
