John,

If you haven't been able to find the last name at birth for Unknow-431, please change it from Unknow (a misspelling) to the Wikitree standard usage: Unknown. This will make the profile searchable on our collaborative tree and increase the chances that someone will help to find Angeline's LNAB. If you don’t know how to change it, drop me a note, and I’ll help.

Thanks!

Nan, Unknowns team

Hello John,

Just a friendly reminder that all profiles created or modified should show some kind of source to be considered reliable. If you need help about this subject, a WikiTree Mentor could be of assistance to you. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

John, merging an Unmerged Match is generally okay, but I like to make sure parents get merged first, so I might leave it Unmerged Match.

If you merge it, then it will disconnect the parent matches, and that becomes a mess to later find and merge them as well. So parents first.

As far as "Un-merge", that is impossible in WikiTree. If you complete a bad merge, you will just have to create a new profile to replace one that should not have been merged.

So always merge only with extreme caution.

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree. You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the Help section or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, Patt

Hi, I started researching my ancestors a year ago. I am particularly interested in the ancestors of my male forefathers with the Brandon Surname. I have researched and have looked at several public trees and no one, I have seen, has the correct father for Joseph Brandon. I joined this site to help with my search. Everything I have entered is accurate and i will attach resources as time permits. Sincerely, John A. Brandon

Hi again, I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process that you might find helpful. Also, about 'Importing a GEDCOM' Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out.
