Biography

John was born with a heart defect (from death certificate: "Atrial Septal Defect, ostium primeria type"). When the doctors finally told my mother that there was a problem, there was nothing medically that could be done at that time period. They needed to wait until he was older before surgery could be performed to correct the problem; however, due to his weakened state, he died at 14 months from a minor infection (although the autopsy report also listed SIDS). He stopped breathing during the night, and although my parents rushed him to the hospital, he was pronounced "DOA."
