"Former Congressman Kent Keller of Illinois (1867-1954), was adescendant of Joshua Bradley (1769-1839), and he wrote up a short historyof his family back in the 1930s. According to his material:

"Joshua Bradley came from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to FortMassac on the Ohio and footed it across the old Trail to Kaskaskia in1796. The family is of old American Revolutionary stock. Prior to 1808the family came and settled at Shiloh Hill, Randolph County, Illinois, onthe old trail. The wife of Joshua Bradley was Nancy Gardner, of theextensive Gardner family of North Carolina, and the daughter of aRevolutionary soldier James Gardner. These Shiloh Hill Bradleys helped tobuild, and for many years maintain Shiloh College. Governor Bradley ofNevada was an immediate member of this family."
